Rituals can be shared across whole communities, within organisations and families or held privately. They can also be created, personalised, and designed to address specific needs. Personally, I believe all rituals that are shared should be created as inclusive and uplifting. If we do this, we overcome fragmentation and become better integrated.
Rituals are generally patterned and repeated, for example within organisations it might be the bi-annual promotions process or how we all open our team meetings.
We can consciously create these rituals within organisations to enable better connection to purpose and the things that are important. Rituals can be a source of significant social, organisational, and individual transformation.
Rituals can and should be organic and evolving. By being conscious, creative and deliberate about our organisational and individual rituals, we can maintain a fresh and relevant identity that reflects the change arounds us and who we want to be.
Rituals can also bring emotions to the fore, they can help us find compassion, share gratitude, and build empathy to better connect and create a sense of belonging.
